NASA’s Life Test of the RS-25 Rocket Engine for the Mars Mission
Testing the Rocket Engine for the Mars Mission
In case you missed this today on NASA TV here is the replay showing the sixth developmental test of an RS-25 rocket engine. Four of the former space shuttle main engines will power the core stage of the new Space Launch System (SLS) rocket , which will carry humans deeper into space than ever before, including to an asteroid and Mars.
NASA opened up the test to the media and social media to watch in person or on the web. Participants not only saw and felt the power of the RS-25 engine test, but also got behind-the-scenes access to America’s largest rocket engine test facility and question and answer sessions with key personnel.
These engines are incredible powerful which is no surprise right since they will need to power a spaceship to Mars.
Check it out.
