The future of the World Rests with the Solar Car Challenge!

The Well Named World Solar Car Challenge.

Designing and building a car that can safely carry a person through the inhospitable Australian outback is a challenge for any team. Making one that is powered only by the sun and is faster and more reliable than any other team’s car is what separates the winners from the losers.

The solar car team at Stanford University does not like to lose. Here is their latest video showing the design and build of their most recent solar race car entry and it is driving across the land down under, as we speak ( or read).

I hope that all of the teams entered in the solar challenge do well and that what we learn this week, will lead to an even better car next year and the year after. There is no doubt that this technology will someday lead us to commercial solar powered transportation and allow us to leave the horrors of fossil fuels behind us forever. No more wars fought over oil, no deaths from mercury and carbon micro-particulates, and no more climate changes that cause the world’s poor more suffering.

Wow, I have really put a lot on the shoulders of these solar car teams right? Right….Let the games begin.
