The Science Behind the Star Wars Adventures
The Star Wars Adventures Continue.
So, after all these years another round of Star Wars movies is upon us and this time it is J.J. Abrams working his remake SciFi magic drawing viewers from all over the world. The original movies set the imaginations of millions of young people on fire a they watched and re-watched their favorite episodes.
I am sure this will be the case again and we have moved past vhs and beta tapes to the world of streaming data. With all of this focus on technology and science ( sure it is an action film too) how much of an impact will it actually have on today’s generation of tomorrow’s scientists and engineers?
In this video from the American Chemical Society, scientists address the physics behind Star Wars staples such as death stars, light sabers and explosions in space. For some series, for example the Walking Dead, it does not pay the viewer to think to much about the science ( like why do they not run to the north where winters are cold and flesh freezes to avoid the walkers), but for Star Wars the science seems to be crucial is it not?
So lets risk learning too much and see what the experts say shall we!
