Removable Cabin Design Making Commercial Air Travel Safer

New Airbus Patent Making Commercial Air Travel Safer.

Commercial air travel has become one of the safest forms of transportation today, with the world’s major airlines posting impressive statistics for accidents and near misses given the incredible number of miles flown each week.

However, when something goes wrong in the air, the results from that one accident are often catastrophic. Surely with today’s technology we can do something to make air travel even safer?

Airbus thinks that they may have the answer and have filed a patent for an airplane design with a ejecting passenger section. The passenger compartment is completely separate from the cockpit and it can be ejected or released to fall a short distance before parachutes deploy and then an inflatable cushion engages to accommodate various landing conditions.

The first few minutes of being dropped at 500 miles per hours would likely be terrifying but the technology is meant to change the outcome for the hundreds of passengers on-board.
