Artificial Intelligence and Android Science.
Mechanical and electronics engineering along with advances in material science are paving the way for significant steps forward in the field of human like robots. Artificial intelligence which needs a platform of fast energy efficient computing power to flourish is at the same time in a resurgence.
Commercial domestic robotics not just for hotels and businesses but also to designed take over the more mundane parts of the average household are all becoming a reality. The very first versions of A.I. enabled human like robots are being unveiled to the world. Sure there are plenty of scary ass military versions being developed and probably even scarier ones we do not know about. However what I am talking about here are robots that look like people and are designed to interact with humans.
These first human like robots ( lets call them Androids?) are mostly just talking heads but later versions are being designed with more active torso’s and soon the ability to walk with assistance. Hanson Robotics has been very active in this area and really they seem to be the leaders in domestic type Android prototyping.
This model Android uses cutting edge artificial intelligence science to produce a resurrection of Albert Einstein the famed physicist and scientist. Albert is made to look as the real person did in his later years, which is how most of us recognize his features of white unruly hair and a white mustache.
Albert Einstein HUBO debuted in November 2005 at the APEC Summit in Seoul, Korea. The culmination of a collaboration between Hanson Robotics and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, the robot is the world’s first android head mounted on a life-size walking robotic frame.
In 2009, Dr. Hanson gave a TED Talk in Long Beach, California, where he demonstrated Einstein HUBO’s ability to understand and mimic facial expressions. In the years in between, Einstein HUBO appeared at numerous conferences, winning widespread acclaim (and more than a little consternation) among those who saw him.
Today Albert is smaller and considerably smarter thanks to artificial intelligence science and more connected. He is now called Professor Einstein, and he ( it ) is being marketed as an educational toy.
Professor Einstein is an amazingly expressive and playful robot who trains your brain and teaches you science.
He connects to the cloud and interacts dynamically with an iPad or Android tablet to talk with you, share his passion for science, challenge you with brain games, and take you on a journey of fun and learning.
Looking just like the real Albert Einstein, with an amazingly expressive face, he will make you smile with educational games and science facts. He loves to chat and will answer your questions on a range of topics. He is your Personal Genius and guide to a world of wonderment.
The Professor Einstein Story as told by Hansen Robotics.
I’m Professor Einstein™, the first personal robot from Hanson Robotics. I was born out of a lifelong fascination with all things Einstein – and the values he stood for.
Hanson Robotics founder and CEO David Hanson teamed up with Andy Rifkin, a toy inventor with over 40 years’ experience developing award-winning interactive entertainment and educational products, to create a robot that would honor Albert Einstein’s character and unique teaching style of explaining complex topics in a way that everyone could understand.
I was designed to inspire imagination, be a great conversationalist, and to bring Einstein’s sense of humor and vast knowledge base back to life, and share it with a new generation.
As Einstein liked to say,
All of science is nothing more than the refinement of everyday thinking.
I help you to tickle your own brain and expand your thinking by acting as your partner in exploring the mysteries ofthe universe. I hope to put you in touch with your potential to be the best you can be.
Everybody can be an Einstein. Genius lives inside each one of us – if we commit to never giving up on the journey of learning.
