My wife and I have very different opinions of technologies like Amazon Echo. I think that voice recognition technology tied to a computer search is a huge step forward over typing on a keyboard or smartphone. She believes that it is big brother trying to collect data on you, so at best they can tailor advertising to you or at worst sell your information to people that want to steal from you.
I am a glass half full kind of person but also a lover of technology so let’s go with my view of this. If you can connect a voice recognition system into a smart television that can respond to commands and learn what you like and dislike, a machine learning program can begin to make your life a little better. Sure it means that you may see “you” specific advertising but if it something that you want to buy, why not right?
A Personal A.I.
As artificial intelligence science progresses, so too will the number of things that a system like Echo can do for people. If you wire your home with the ability to turn on and off devices ( internet of things – IoT) such as lights, heating and air-conditioning and you have smart appliances in your kitchen ( or maybe a robot chef?), what could happen if you give control to a system like Echo?
How about if you connect it to your smart electric car and solar powered home energy system? Suddenly it becomes your personal A.I.! The more sensors and data that you give it the more it can do for you…
Today We Have The 2nd Generation Amazon Echo.
Ok, this is maybe Echo version 10.6 so lets look at the 2nd Generation Amazon Echo as it works today. Sorry but this is TeK-THinK right!
Echo is a hands-free speaker you control with your voice. Echo connects to the Alexa Voice Service to play music, ask questions, make calls, send and receive messages, provide information, news, sports scores, weather, and more and instantly. All you have to do is ask.
The 2nd Generation Amazon Echo is also an expertly tuned speaker that can fill any room with immersive sound. It has seven microphones and beam-forming technology so it can hear you from across the room, even while music is playing. When you want to use Echo, just say the wake word “Alexa” and Echo responds instantly.
The second generation Amazon Echo comes in six styles with improved sound and a new, lower price.
